WIMBLEDON RFC SEEKS LEAD STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING COACH

Wimbledon RFC is seeking to appoint a Lead Strength and Conditioning coach with immediate effect.

This is a part time role that would ideally suit an individual already working in this field/industry or studying at post graduate level and is located within reasonable reach of Wimbledon RFC.

Job Title: Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach

Reports to: Director of Rugby

Contract period: June 2024 to April 2024 in the first instance.

Purpose of Job: To develop, implement and manage the conditioning requirements of the Men’s, Women’s and Colts squads at WRFC.

Responsibilites

  • Lead the programming and delivery of the Strength and Conditioning services for the Men’s Senior squad
  • Lead the programming of Strength and Conditioning services for the women’s and Colts squads
  • Educate players to create great behaviours around Strength and Conditioning.
  • Key Tasks
  • Understand the coaches ’philosophy and approach to the game and assist in developing an appropriate Strength and Conditioning plan
  • Lead Strength and Conditioning elements of Tuesday and Thursday training sessions and provide training warm ups and warm downs as agreed with the Coaching team
  • Attend all 1st XV matches to lead Strength and Conditioning elements and provide warm ups and warm downs as agreed with the Coaching team.
  • Be part of establishing a team vision, values and standards.
  • Regular consultation with the medical team to ensure there is an integrated approach to nutrition, injury prevention, rehabilitation and recovery strategies.

The Successful Candidate Will Have;
Essential Skills

  • Passion for Strength and Conditioning -demonstrate a can do attitude
  • Strength and Conditioning specific qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of exercise physiology, biomechanics and nutrition
  • Strong work ethic, punctual, reliable and professional
  • Current and valid driving license
  • Experience of working as a Strength and Conditioning coach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • The ability of construct position specific and where needed individual Strength and Conditioning plans

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience working with rugby players
  • Experience of rehabilitating athletes
  • Strong use of IT
